On Friday, 5 May 2023 at 10:00 a.m., His Royal Highness The Crown Prince Tupoutofa Ulukala of the Kingdom of Tonga, and Her Royal Highness The Princess Angelika Latufuipeka Tuku'aho, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Tonga in Commonwealth of Australia, visited the Khao Hin Sorn Royal Development Study Centre, Chachoengsao Province. Their Royal Highness were welcomed by Mr. Khajornkiet Rakpanichmanee, the Governor of Chachoengsao Province, Mr. Vigrom Gayanandana, Advisor on Project Coordination of the Office of the RDPB, Mr. Watchara Hassapak, Executive Director of the Division of Project Coordination Area 1 of the Office of the RDPB, Ms. Kesorn Champar, Director of the Khao Hin Sorn Royal Development Study Centre, Ms. Thantitta Nakornthap, Director of Foreign Affairs Group of the Office of the RDPB. Subsequently, Their Royal Highnesses viewed a documentary film depicting the background and implementation results of the Khao Hin Sorn Royal Development Study Centre. After that, their Royal Highness boarded on the tram to observe the centre’s operation, with a special interest in learning about Thai's expertise in the fields of crop cultivation and freshwater animal husbandry, as the Kingdom of Tonga currently needs to import agricultural products and freshwater fish from other countries. Additionally, Their Royal Highnesses planted the Yellow stars, the symbolic tree of His Majesty the King, in commemoration of His Majesty the King’s Coronation Day on May 4.

Thailand and the Kingdom of Tonga have enjoyed a long-standing, close and amicable relationship. In 2015, the Office of the RDPB appointed two experts, Dr. Pisoot Vijarnsorn and Veterinarian Yukol Limlamthong, to work in the Agricultural Development Cooperation Project based on the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy in the Kingdom of Tonga, in collaboration with Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs. With the intention to learn more about the Royal Initiative, Tonga sent the members of its royal family and officials to study and observe the activities of the royal development projects on multiple occasions. This current visit represents a valuable opportunity for both parties to build upon their existing cooperation, especially in the field in which the Khao Hin Sorn Royal Development Study Centre has expertise, and the Kingdom of Tonga recognizes the importance.
