Delegates of The Rockefeller Foundation Visiting to the Huai Sai Royal Development Study Centre and the Model Farmers’ Farming Plots
 in Phetchaburi Province

                   On 1 February 2023, the representatives of the Foreign Affairs Group, Division of Special Affairs welcomed and accompanied the study visit of the delegates from the Rockefeller Foundation who attended the training course on Household Food Security for Nutrition Well-being to the Huai Sai Royal Development Study Centre in Phetchaburi Province. The course was organized by the Institute of Nutrition, Mahidol University, with 19 participants from Cambodia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Nepal and Thailand.

                   On this occasion, Pol. Capt. Kawinpat Teeraprasertkul, Head of the Public Relations Work, together with the representatives from the Huai Sai Development Study Centre; Mrs. Kamolinee Suksriwong, Executive Director, Division of Project Coordination Area 5, Office of the Royal Development Projects Board (ORDPB) and the representatives from Division of Project Coordination Area 5, as well as Miss. Thantitta Nakornthap, Director of Foreign Affairs Group together with the representatives from Foreign Affairs Group, ORDPB, warmly welcomed the participants. Upon arrival, the participants were presented with the video presentation about the establishment of the Huai Sai Royal Development Study Centre and the objectives of its establishment, followed by the New Theory Farming Practice and the background of the six Royal Development Study Centres. To give the delegates with the clearer picture, the Executive Director, Division of Project Coordination Area5 and the Director of Foreign Affairs Group answered to all the questions from the participants had.

                   After that, the participants took the tram to see the activity of planting sugar cane for sale before moving to the experimentation plot on the use of vetiver to improve the hardpan soil for soil and water conservation. The participants also had the chance to see the plot for growing good varieties of fruit trees and the integrated farming plots which are the good practice for food security.

                   In the afternoon, the delegates proceed to the two model farmers' houses, that is, Mr. Pairach Satsa-ngiam, a Model Farmer and the Goat Raising Learning Centre According to the Royal Initiative as well as Mr. Sayan Phakdicharoen, a Model Farmer According to the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy. At the site, the two model farmers gave the briefing on the success and the body of knowledge to their neighbors and the communities nearby including using their farming areas as the learning centres for the interested.

                   During the study visit, the delegates were quite interested with growing good varieties of plants and fruit trees around the surrounding areas of the Huai Sai Royal Development Study Centre; the promotion of sustainable development to the youths and the seniors by the Huai Sai Royal Development Study Centre; the management of natural resource including time and budget, and the partners in running the activities of the Huai Sai Royal Development Study Centre.
